fred & ginger

Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers knew each other as early as the days where they started their careers in the Broadway. In fact, they briefly dated before they became huge stars. Then they finally collaborated in their first movie together, Flying Down to Rio (1933), which was Ginger Roger's 20th screen appearance and Fred's 2nd. Their dance segment 'The Carioca' in Rio received widely positive reviews and warm appraisal that it led to them working together again in nine other films. They soon became the best known dancing partners in the cinema history (arguably), with Top Hat as their best known work, Swing Time having the finest musical numbers, The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle having the only tragic ending, The Barkleys of Broadway being the only Technicolor film they appeared in, and the rest for having their own certain qualities.
